Design is the purpose of Hummingbird Hill Studio and the focus of this website. The design of composition--both of written pieces and of quilts--is explained, interpolated, exemplified, demonstrated, illustrated, and, in other ways, taught here. Stunning design is built upon the firm foundation of the five classical canons of rhetoric—invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery. Because of their practical perfection, these pertinent principles continue to be employed by respectable designers of all types and eras.
